What is a Community School?
Community schools are part of United Way’s place-based LIFT (Link and Inspire for Tomorrow) strategy, which creates local partnerships between neighborhoods, nonprofits, businesses and more to align resources and targeted support for the neighborhoods they serve. While all community schools vary in the programs that they offer, they share the same four pillars:
- Integrated student support
- Expanded learning times and opportunities
- Family and community engagement
- Collaborative leadership and practices
