This year, our Family Empowerment Series (FES) will consist of 4 events that will take place throughout the 2022-2023 school year. September kicked off FES with the Raising Readers to Succeed Program for students grades 4K-5. Students are being challenged to read and summarize as many books as possible to earn some great prizes. If your student missed the opportunity to participate this fall, we are hoping to bring the program back in the spring. Stay tuned!
The FES planning team is presenting a charge to interested elementary school classroom teachers and middle school students individually to put on their creative hats and enter a competition to write and illustrate a children’s book. The winning elementary school classroom will receive a pizza and ice cream party. The middle school winner or team of two will earn a special prize. The winning books will be published.
World Traveler & Early Literacy Event
On Saturday, May 6, 2023, there will be an opportunity for students and families to learn facts about various countries. The FES World Traveler & Early Literacy event will take place at Mitchell K-8 School.
Spring Break Scavenger Hunt
Lastly, again this year, a Scavenger Hunt for students will be held in the downtown Racine area during Spring Break, April 7-14, 2023. Students will navigate through the downtown area to search for clues to learn about the history of different states in the U.S.
