Giese's school band is open to all 5th grade students.
Students who sign up for band have an opportunity to learn different instruments that they can continue playing in middle, high school and beyond. Sign up forms will go out to families within the first 2 weeks of school and lessons will begin in October. There, students have the opportunity to try different instruments and decide what they would like to play.
Throughout the school year, students will receive solo and group lessons during the school day. Band students are expected to practice 30 minutes 3 times a week outside of school and perform in 2 concerts during the school year. Over the summer, students who excel at their instrument will have the opportunity to join the Junior Lighthouse Brigade of Racine in which I am the co-director. The Brigade is a summer marching band program for 5th-8th grade students.
