When the Girls on the Run Team from Mitchell K-8 took part in a 5K at American Family Field Nov. 14, what spectators witnessed was more than just some motivated, athletic young women.
The young athletes are in the Girls on the Run Program which is part of the Racine Unified School District’s Extended Learning Program. While Girls on the Run does help these girls train for a 5K, the program also aims to help the girls improve their self-confidence and self-esteem through social emotional learning lessons, team building activities and more.
Today we congratulate this team, their coaches and running buddies for not only crushing their 5K, but also for being goal-oriented, fostering healthy lifestyles and serving as an inspiration to other young women!
