Principal's Letter
August 2024
Hello Academies of Racine at Horlick High School Families,
It is my privilege to welcome you all to the 2024-2025 academic year at the Academies of Racine at Horlick High School! We are thrilled to have our students return to the building on September 3, 2024. Please note the start times for the first day of school only:
Freshmen will begin their day at 7:15 a.m.
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors may begin arriving at 11:00 a.m.
There will only be one bus run in the morning. If students in grades 10, 11, and 12 ride the school bus in the morning, they will be housed in the theater until 11:00 a.m.
Beginning September 4th, school will start at 7:15 a.m. for all students.
Our mission at William Horlick High School is to develop college and career-ready students within a diverse learning community by fostering a culture of Respect, Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships. Our Wildly Important Goal (WIG) is to ensure that students graduate from Horlick ready to take on the world.
This year, we are adopting a new cell phone practice. Cell phones will not be allowed during academic time and may only be used during passing periods and lunch. If you need to check your student out, please contact their Academy Office or our Main Office at 262-619-4300. If you need to speak with your student please call them during a non-instructional time. If it is an emergency please call their Academy Office or the Main Office. Thank you to all of the parents who participated in our cell phone kaizen this past spring.
We are also working towards reviving the true spirit of our school with a focus on Fun, Belonging, and Mastery. We invite you to join in on the fun for events like student sports games, recognition celebrations, FAFSA nights, and more. Know that you belong here—connect with us, get involved, and remember that you are integral to your student's success. Support your student’s strive for mastery by ensuring they come to school every day, bring their Chromebook daily, and check Infinite Campus regularly to stay informed about grades.
This is just the beginning, and there is more to come as we embark on this exciting new school year together.
Warm regards,
Tangella King
Executive Directing Principal
