RUSD Visitor Registration System
Safety and security is a top priority at Racine Unified, which is why RUSD schools use Raptor. Raptor is a visitor registration system that checks photo IDs, compares the information to a sexual offender database and alerts the school if a match is found. If no match is found, the system prints out an RUSD visitor ID badge that includes a visitor’s name, photo, date of visit and destination within the school site.
Here’s what families should expect when visiting a school:
You must show a photo ID.
The system accepts all valid state licenses, state identification cards, green cards, passports, and some military cards.
If someone does not have an ID, a school administrator, based on their knowledge of the visitor, may decide whether to allow entry. The visitor will still need to provide their full name, date of birth and address so the information can be manually entered into Raptor. Entry without a proper photo ID will only be allowed twice before a photo ID is required.
Raptor helps our schools/sites keep unwanted visitors out while keeping track of those allowed in. By quickly alerting an employee to certain potential threats, it allows administrators/designees and law enforcement personnel to take appropriate steps to keep the school, students, staff, and volunteers safe. For valid visitors, the system also prints visitor badges that include a photo, the visitor’s name, and the visitors’ destination. Those badges enable personnel within the building to quickly determine if visitors are in areas where they should or should not be.
