Understanding Act 20 & Early Literacy Assessments

If you're wondering what Act 20 is all about, or are trying to figure out what to make of your child's AimswebPlus Early Reading Screening, you have come to the right place.

Act 20

Act 20 is a Wisconsin state law that requires all Wisconsin public schools and private institutions to instruct 4K to 3rd-grade students in science-aligned literacy, and all public schools to assess reading levels to achieve proficiency in reading before 4th grade.

Act 20 Literacy Asessments

In Wisconsin, all students in grades 4K-3 will participate in the aimswebPlus early reading screener, a brief, standardized assessment designed to evaluate students' reading skills. The screeners will take place 2-3 times per school year. They are an additional way for your child's teacher to learn about your child's reading skills.
