International Baccalaureate
RUSD is one of only four districts in the state of Wisconsin to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme at all three grade bands – elementary, middle and high school. IB programmes offer internationally-minded education that helps students develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world.
Becoming an authorized IB Organization takes years of dedicated reform and reflection to meet the high standards of IB practices. Case High School became an authorized IB Diploma Programme in 1978, an authorized Career-related Programme in 2017 and currently has candidate status while it works towards authorization in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) at the 9th and 10th grade levels. In 2024, West Ridge Elementary (an authorized IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) since 2016), Jefferson Lighthouse (an authorized IB PYP since 2012) and Starbuck Middle School (an authorized IB MYP since 2012) are merging to become Starbuck International K-8 School, continuing the tradition of excellence in IB education.
