About 50 RUSD teachers took part in an externship this summer.

This professional development offering, funded by the Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce Foundation, is intended for teachers to learn from area employers and incorporate real-world lessons to their classrooms to help students determine careers they want to pursue.

The goal is “to make that learning real, make it relevant and engaging for the students and bring that curriculum to life,” said Al DeBaker, RUSD executive director of academies and transformation.
