Mark your calendars for March 3-7 and spread the word that it’s Kindergarten Enrollment Week! Join us at the RUSD Welcome Center located at 3109 Mt. Pleasant St. (hours below) to register your 3, 4 or 5-year-old for the 2025-26 school year. We’ll have staff on-site to help answer all your questions and set your child up for success. Plus, every student who registers in-person will receive a FREE backpack filled with school supplies while supplies last. If you can’t make it in, enroll online at rusd.org/enroll.
Kindergarten is so much more than the ABC’s. For three-year-olds, it helps children get excited about school and learn classroom routines in addition to developing language, math and problem-solving skills.
For four-year-olds, it’s about expanding on the skills learned in 3K, building good habits and further developing social and emotional skills.
For five-year-olds, kindergarten prepares them for first grade and beyond through positive work, play and learning.
RUSD offers some of the best state-recognized 3K, 4K and 5K programs taught by licensed, award-winning teachers. Our 4K program is one of the most expansive and accessible programs around, with both full- and half-day options, and even dual language options for students to start learning in both English and Spanish.
K3: Limited programs are available at some schools. Children must turn 3 by September 1 to be eligible.
K4: Programs are widely available. Children must turn 4 by September 1 to be eligible (full and half-day programs available).
K5: Children must turn 5 by September 1 to be eligible.
Learn more about our 3K, 4K and 5K options, what a typical day in those classrooms looks like and more on the importance of enrolling your child in kindergarten programs by listening to this episode of our podcast, RU in the Know? All About Kindergarten. You can also find additional information on 3K and 4K here and five-year-old kindergarten here.
We can’t wait to welcome your child to one of our kindergarten programs!
