The 39th Annual Black History Youth Achievement Awards will take place Saturday, Feb. 22 at Memorial Hall in Racine from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Each year, hundreds of public and private school students are nominated for the awards by school staff and the list of this year's winners is now out! 

Students are nominated in one or more of the following categories: 

Academic Achievement

Academic achievement in the areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies. Evidence: Classroom performance, assessments, grades, improvement, and effort. 

Athletic Ability 

Athletic excellence in school-sponsored or non-school-sponsored athletic activities. Includes achievement and sportsmanship. 

Excellence in the Arts 

Excellence in the arts includes all mediums and forms of expression. This may include students enrolled in formal art programs or those who practice art in their free time. 

Super Person

The Super Person Award recognizes students for being an outstanding individual. A student may be nominated for this award due to a demonstration of outstanding character or growth, a dedication to community service, or other measures not captured in other categories.
