The Racine Unified School District Board of Education recently honored dozens of student-athletes who reached the pinnacle of competition this school year—state-level tournaments and championships across a wide variety of sports. From swimming to esports, these talented students have made their schools and community proud.

Making a Splash in the Pool

Several students from Case High School dove into state-level competition in swimming and diving. Gabi Peterman finished 17th in the 50 freestyle and 24th in the 100 freestyle. Raimee McCray placed 23rd in the diving event. The boys’ 400 freestyle relay team of Aiden Chvilicek, Max Carlson, Nathaniel Foster, and Brayden Moore took 18th. In the 200 freestyle relay, Moore, Carlson, and brothers Nathaniel and Nicholas Foster finished 11th. Nathaniel Foster also earned 17th in the 100 fly, while Brayden Moore brought home an impressive 3rd place in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

Cross Country Teams Run the Distance

Both Horlick and Case High Schools had standout performances in cross country. From Case High School, the following athletes helped earn a second-place finish at the SEC Championship, securing their trip to state: Grace Neumann, Lilly Reaume, Emma Barnes, Camila Aquino, Kinzie Feest, Anika Becker and Addison Dittlof. The Horlick boys’ team won their sectional and finished 17th at state. Team members included Landon Franke, Gio Maccanelli, Morgan Hanson, Crystian Amezcua, Declan Pope, Sebastian Figueroa and Teddy Schwandt.

Strikes and Spares at State Bowling

RUSD bowlers showed up strong at the state level. Sakinah Thomas from Park qualified for the girls’ singles competition. The RUSD Boys Bowling Co-op Team placed 4th at state and included
Antonio Deltoro, Andres Oliver (Park); Ben Moczynski, James Boedecker (Horlick); Matt Person (Walden); and Christian Peterson (St. Cat’s). Ben Moczynski and Christian Peterson also qualified for boys’ singles, with Christian finishing 10th.

Cheer Teams Bring the Energy

The cheer squads from both Horlick and Park left their mark at state competitions. Horlick's Co-Ed Traditional Cheer Team finished 5th. The team included Lilly Urban, Clarissa Spaulding, Destiny Portillo, Jasmine Przekurat, Natalie Jones, Kaitlyn Kasabian, Lauren Simpson, Elizabeth Klis, Alexa Martinez, Yaritza Zuniga, Jessica Ramirez, Hannah Ramirez, Adrianna Ramirez, Julie Santiago-Hernando, Brianna Pederson, Sofia Castro, Charlie Cimbalnik, Carson Fletcher and Madison Stickland.

Park High School Cheer achieved a 4th place finish in the Small Co-Ed Non-Tumble Division and 3rd place in the Large Cheer Dance category. Team members were Charlotte Lennon-Heeter, Arianna Reed-Lyons, Sinclair Smith-O'Brien, Jailah Blunt, Jimmy Boatner, Ma'Kiya Brown, Mikayla Green, Mikenzie Hanson, Kasya Hargrove McKinley, Guadalupe Hernandez, Aphasia Morales, Sydney Roberts, Ava Romashko, Kiana Singleton, Christeaiana Bray, Savanna Sanchez and Daimein Anderson.

Dancing into RUSD History

Case High School’s Dance Team made school history by competing at state for the first time in Division 1 Pom. Members of this trailblazing team include Mariah Rangel, Izzy Axelson, Piper Coulter, Lexus Mata, Ava Pinnow, La’Niya Nguyen, Lauren Urso, Zoey Milton, Elaina Guzman, Rhianna Langdon, Dai Ping Zenner, Claire Phillips, Jade Hooper, Paityn Ellis, Morgan Gabbey, Mariana Wood, Layla Matthews, Macy Motley and Brooke McIntosh.

Esports Achievements: A New Frontier

RUSD’s competitive gaming teams also saw success at the WIHSEA Fall State Championship.

The Division 1 Overwatch team placed second, with team members Nico Archuleta, Charles Griese, Noah Huber, Ethan Ziegler, Leo Smith, Jayden DiBlase, Kegan Hodgins and Jaydin Jensen-Peterson.

Park Boys Basketball: A Historic Run

Capping off an incredible season of sports, the Park High School Boys Basketball Team advanced to the state championship game for the first time in 65 years, finishing as state runners-up.

Team members include Zareontae Gwinn, Isaiah Robinson, Cameron Betker, Cole Betker, Jaxon Moss, Jacob Freeman, Jwan Eastland, Jamarreon Deleon, Kamari Wright, Donell Williams Jr., Immanuel Lewis, Natavion Santoya-White, Daniel Deleon and Mikal Elliot.
