In September 2012, RUSD became only the third school district in the state of Wisconsin to have an International Baccalaureate (IB) programme at all three grade bands – elementary, middle and high school. IB programmes offer internationally-minded education that helps students develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world.
Case High School became an authorized IB Diploma Programme in 1978 and an authorized Career-related Programme in 2017. In January 2012, Jefferson Lighthouse Elementary School was authorized as an IB Primary Years Programme and Starbuck Middle School was authorized as an IB Middle Years Programme in July 2012. In 2016, West Ridge Elementary School was authorized as an IB Primary Years Programme.
Becoming authorized by the IB Organization takes years of dedicated reform and reflection that focuses on educating the whole child: academic, social, physical, emotional and cultural; Jefferson Lighthouse, West Ridge, Starbuck and Case all meet the high standards of IB’s standards and practices.
