Food Allergies & Special Dietary Needs

placeholder

Some menu items served at school may contain allergens that your child is allergic to. Our elementary schools are peanut, tree nut, and fish aware.  To find menu information including allergy information, use our NutriSlice Menu App.  If you have any questions about specific ingredients used in our recipes, contact Aramark at 262-664-8700 or by email here

Special Dietary Accommodations

Requests for special dietary accommodations must include a Medical Statement for Special Dietary needs, signed by a state-authorized medical authority.  To view the complete Special Dietary Accommodation Policy, use this link.

Reasons that a child would need a special dietary accommodation request can include:

  • severe food allergy (peanut, tree nut, soy, egg, etc.)
  • lactose-free milk
  • food intolerance
  • Celiac disease or need for a gluten-free diet
  • need for carbohydrate counts for children who are diabetic
  • need for texture modifications
  • or any reason a child requires substitutions or modifications in school meals for a disability that restricts their diet

Medical Statement for Special Dietary Needs can be found here:

Completed forms can be given to your school nurse or emailed to Aramark at dietitian@rusd.org or mailed to: Racine Unified School District, C/O Aramark, ATTN: Dietitian, 2333 Northwestern Ave, Racine, WI 53404.

A Medical Statement for Special Dietary needs must be complete and on file with the dietitian before accommodations are made.  We are required to provide accommodations for special dietary needs based on a qualifying disability if the medical statement is completed and signed by a state-authorized medical authority.

All medical statements that are signed by a state-authorized medical authority that does not have a qualifying disability, will be accommodated at the District's discretion.  We will do our best to ensure that your child receives a safe and nutritious meal that fits his/her specific dietary needs while meeting meal pattern requirements.

We are unable to make accommodations for special dietary requests that do not meet meal pattern requirements as a result of lifestyle choices or religious reasons.

Aramark's dietitian can be reached at 262-664-8702 or by email at dietitian@rusd.org
