Racine Unified offers a variety of programs and services for early learners.
4-Year-Old Kindergarten
4-year-old kindergarten (4K) is a free program offered to children who live within RUSD's boundaries. It is a developmentally appropriate program, offering hands-on instruction to students who are 4 on or before September 1st of the academic year. Half day and full day options are offered throughout the District.
P-COC (Parent-Child Oriented Classroom)
The P-COC (Parent-Child Oriented Classroom) Program for three-year-olds is a free program offered to children who are 3 on or before September 1st of the academic year and who are living within RUSD's boundaries. P-COC is located at the Bull Early Education Center and the Goodland Montessori building.
RUSD Montessori Program
Montessori education emphasizes independence and respect for a child’s naturally developing cognitive, physical and social skills. It is a free program for students who live within RUSD's boundaries. Enrollment is lottery based. Children are enrolled in mixed age classrooms. Wrap around care is available. The program is only located at the Goodland Montessori building.
Waterford Upstart Program
Waterford UPSTART provides four-year-old children access to the highest form of academic support in their early education at no cost to participants: personalized family education and coaching, a new computer and Internet if needed, and adaptive educational software. The average Waterford UPSTART graduate enters kindergarten reading at nearly a first-grade level and maintains their gains for years to come. Watch the program overview video here. Developmental Screenings
Early Childhood Free Developmental Screenings are offered by appointment for children from birth to age 5, not currently attending kindergarten. Please call 262-631-7151 for more information.
