Alternate Address & Dual Custody

placeholder

Does your child ride the bus and need to be picked up and dropped off at a location other than their home address? We offer options for families who qualify for transportation and have specific requests for bus pick-up and drop-off locations including:

Alternate Address

Alternate address transportation is for families who would like their child picked up and dropped off at a location other than their home address. The alternate address is usually a grandparent’s home, babysitter’s home or daycare. The address must qualify and be in the attendance boundary of the child’s school. Forms must be submitted by July 1 and need to be filled out regardless if you have completed one before.

Dual Custody

Dual custody transportation is for families whose children are sometimes picked up and dropped off at their mother’s home and sometimes at their father’s home. At least one of the child’s parents must live in the attendance area of the child’s school and the other must live within the boundary of the RUSD. In order to receive busing from both the mother and father’s home, the mother and father must have a decree from the courts. Initial forms must be in by July 1. Forms only need to be resubmitted if a student changes schools or if the address of either guardian changes. Please read the form so you understand the policies that pertain to this request.

In order to ensure that your child’s transportation is set by the start of school, please submit forms by July 1 each year. Alternate address and dual custody forms may be found on the forms page and returned to the transportation department at transportation.department@rusd.org. Email is the preferred method; however, you may also mail it or drop it off at the address below:
