They give their time and talents for others and sometimes they truly deserve an extra thank you. That’s why the Volunteer Center of Racine holds the Volunteer Recognition Awards every year. This year, for the first time, members of the public had an opportunity to vote on the most deserving volunteers.

RUSD student Alexis Betker won the Volunteer Center of Racine’s Youth Award. Captain of the Park High School soccer, golf and basketball teams, Alexis applies her leadership skills to her volunteering projects. She’s been a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, served Thanksgiving meals at Festival Hall and has volunteered at her church, Knapp elementary School and Old Harbor Assisted Living. Most recently she helped coordinate Park’s Covid Canned Wars in December 2020.
