Starbuck Middle

Starbuck Principal's Corner

Dear Families,

I am delighted that you and your child are part of our amazing learning community. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with you.

My name is Ellis Turrentine, Jr. and I’m extremely happy to have been named the principal of the new Starbuck IB World School. I’m very passionate about education and I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality middle school experience. As the parent of three boys ages 20, 20 and 15, I recognize the importance of a strong home-school connection. Parents are every child’s first teacher and I believe that by working together, we can make sure your child’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met.

Before joining the Racine Unified School District family, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles over the past 25 years, with the Milwaukee Public School District, the Brown Deer School District and the past two years as an administrator at McKinley IB World School. Some of the roles I have held include para-professional, classroom teacher, middle school athletic director, assistant varsity basketball coach, PBIS Internal coach, K-8 assistant principal, principal, and summer school principal. My academic background includes a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision, a Bachelor of Science in Education and Sociology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.

I believe that great schools are the results of great teachers, so my primary objective will be to ensure that every student is receiving high-quality instruction from every teacher at Starbuck IB World School. In order to do this, I will be providing teachers with feedback on their instruction, access to professional development, and reaching out to parents for support with academic and behavioral concerns to ensure our students are prepared for college and 21st-century careers.

I will be working closely with Assistant Principal Ms. Sara Wroblewski and Assistant Principal Mr. Bret Olson, to guarantee that all of our students are intellectually challenged and have access to the social and emotional support critical to students during their middle school experience. Please watch for communication about how you can get involved with the Starbuck IB World School.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve your families in this role! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share at
