Enrollment in RUSD online courses are accepted during RUSD open enrollment. Enrollment in parttime courses is accepted on a rolling basis throughout the fall, spring and summer terms. During the school year, RUSD students who wish to enroll in online courses should speak with their school counselors first. Upon contacting the Virtual School, if approved, students must complete an orientation and then start their online academic courses with the help of their school's online mentor and/or teachers. Students will have 16 weeks to complete their course. Depending on grade level, students are expected to complete one hour of work in each course daily, a minimum of fifteen to thirty-six hours per week, and be in contact with their course instructors at least once a week if in middle or high school, and daily if in elementary school. During the summer months, students who reside within the boundaries of RUSD may enroll in one summer online course (.5 credit) for original credit or grade replacement. Summer enrollments are approved through the school counselors in March, April and early May of each school year so that students have enough time to complete a course by July 30.
Private school and parochial school students who live within the boundaries of RUSD may enroll in RUSD online courses within the guidelines of the Part-time Attendance Option for Private School Students. In general, high school students may enroll in up to two RUSD online courses in each school term (Fall, Spring, Summer).
Home-based private education students who live within the boundaries of RUSD may enroll in RUSD online courses within the guidelines of the Home-based Private Education Program (Homeschooling). In general, home-based students may enroll in up to two RUSD online courses in each school term (Fall, Spring, Summer).
